Are you looking for accommodation in New York City? Here’s our review of Z NYC Hotel, 11-01 43rd Avenue, Long Island City, NY 11101. A wonderful boutique hotel with an awesome view on the Manhattan Skyline out of each room.
In Long Island City (LIC) in Queens. New York City consists out of five “boroughs”. Besides Manhattan there are Brooklyn, Staten Island, the Bronx and Queens. Long Island City is a neighborhood in Queens. Close to Manhattan but located on the other side of the East River. Z NYC Hotel provides complimentary transportation to and from midtown Manhattan. The shuttle runs once every hour. Depending on traffic and time of day this will take you some 15 – 45 minutes. The nearest subway station is about a 10 minute walk away.
A nice and clean room with perhaps the best view over Manhattan there is. Here you fall asleep overlooking Manhattan, wake up in the middle of the night and open the curtains to check if all the buildings are still there and slowly wake up in the morning with one eye on the Empire State and the other on the Chrysler Building … absolutely phenomenal!
Friendly staff. Complimentary transportation to midtown Manhattan with the always cheerfull and excellent busdriver Raymond. Comfortable room with beautiful view. The fact that you can get something to eat in the hotelbar (we can highly recommend the hamburger with sweet potatoe fries) which, with good company, is actually a nice place to hang out.
The location in Queens. Newyorkcitytripper Esther did not like being dependent on the hotelbus. And she did not feel safe walking to or from the subway by herself. Also not every taxidriver fancies the ride Manhattan – Queens. But it is very personal, Newyorkcitytripper Daphne loved the area.
Queens is a lot more fun that what you’d expect. Especially worth exploring during summer.
Did we already mention the beautiful view?
We stayed here early spring and the rooftopbar was still closed. We’ve heard (and can imagine) that’s the place to be in Long Island City on a warm summer night.
Depends on the period of time but somewhere between 120 – 280 dollar per night for two persons.
Check here if they have availability.
Tips for Queens?
We have not even come close to finding out all there is to do in Queens, but amongst our personal favorites are 12 K running route, breakfast at Sweetleaf, grabbing a beer and getting a bite to eat at Dutch Kills, eating gnocchi at Locale/Gastroteca Astoria and the MoMA PS1.
